English 201 Composition II
This course is designed to guide students through a series of activities
and assignments aimed at practicing and refining the communication,
research, and documentation skills needed in academic and professional
writing.
Writing assignments may include resume & cover letter, summary and analysis of researched material, literature review,
annotated bibliography, proposal, visual representation
of information, document
design, and researched position paper.
Learning objectives for the course include:

Students will write effectively and responsibly in
several academic genres, using appropriate academic
tone, diction, and sentence structure.
- Students will recognize when information is
needed and have the ability to locate, organize,
critically evaluate, and effectively use information
from a variety of sources with intellectual integrity. Students will support their researched texts with
quotations, paraphrases, and summaries accurately, using
appropriate citation practices.
- Students will use the processes, forms, and styles of
writing appropriate to academic and professional
communication and composition.
- Students will complete assignments using appropriate
computer technologies, including word processing,
electronic presentation software, web browsing,
electronic mail, and online an electronic discussion
board. Bibliographic software is optional.
