ENGL 210: Introduction to Literature
This course provides a survey of the genres (poetry, fiction, and
drama), themes, and values of literature.
Assignments include readings, analytical and
interpretive essays, online discussions, and maintaining an online reading
log (blog).
Learning objectives for the course include:

will understand the diversity and complexity of the
human experience through study of the arts and
humanities.

will recognize when information is needed and have

evaluate, and effectively use information from a

Students will refine their understanding and
practice of reading and writing as integral parts of
researching, learning, discussing, and presenting
academic materials, with the following learning
outcomes:
Read extensively and respond critically in written
discourse;
Use writing to learn course content by practicing
writing as an integral, on-going part of the course
and applying writing conventions of MLA style
manual.
