That Night by Jerry Haas That night we will never forget (my friend Jamie and I that is). It all started with him and I going out to get pizza after the football game little did I know that I would end up being grounded for the rest of my life by time the night was through. Jamie and I were out messing around that night drinking beer and having a good time both secretly looking to get a little action from one of the hot girls that were waiting for us at a party. My mom had given me a quarter to use just in case I got into trouble. Jamie and I had not been out driving long when his alternator gave out and the battery died so we were out side trying to push start his truck when the cop pulled up behind us and wanted to know exactly what the hell was going on. I happened to look up and see that it was officer mark (my next door neighbor) Jamie was scared that we would get busted for having beer in the truck but mark and I were good friends so I made small talk and mark eventually went on his way. “Boy jerry I always knew that it would pay off having you as a friend you know everybody or you just make enough small talk to get them to like you.” Jamie said. “Well Jamie I replied coming from you that means a lot thanks now lets get this thing rolling and get out of here.” When Jamie and I got out to cams we instantly hit the keg and filled our 32oz mugs and drank a considerably amount of beer also we were having a good time Jamie had run off with one of the girls that he had been hitting on. Myself I was busy talking to a friend of mine (nothing much just shooting the breeze a lot of bullshit talk) The party was loud things were hoping little did anyone know that maybe the neighbors weren’t having as much off a good time as we were. I was getting bored so I went upstairs to cool off and just be by myself. Jamie was already up there half naked so I let him be and sat on the steps. 20 minutes must have passed when all the sudden Jamie hollers oh shit “Jerry get in here now Jamie hollers!!!!” I go busting into the room and Jamie grabs my head and points look When I saw what I had saw I started to shake because I knew that were done for everybody gets busted I was just hoping that I wouldn’t still be living under my parent roof when it happened. What do you do when you are close to getting busted for starters always try to run they say that the cops are easier on you if you don’t run. That is false try to run if you get away you got off if they catch you well hey at least you tried. It was too late to run down stairs so Jamie and I climb out the window and into the tree it was getting cold and all I had on was a shirt and shorts. But lo be hold the city cops came and escorted out of the tree thanks to Jamie’s would have been one night fling. Jamie and I were 18 at the time and so there were about 5 of us that got minors contributing to minors (150 dollar fine). Jamie and I got the following minor in consumption (75 dollar fine) they got me for open container in a vehicle they got Jamie for DWI being that he had beer in the vehicle. I would be lying to you if I said that the breakfast that I got in jail that next morning was a real five course meal because it was worse them the MRI that my brother and I shared the previous weekend I got the night because when they called my parents my6 dad said for them to let me stay because he was mad enough to kill me so it would be in the best interest for me to stay the night. Jamie his parents were in Las Vegas so he was supposed to staying at my house so he spent the night in jail with me also. The next morning my dad came and got us not a word was said until we pulled into the driveway even though it was cold out he made Jamie and I pull the weeds around the house rake the yard then mow it. He also informed me that I was grounded for life (which explains the fact that even when I go home today I can’t do anything because I am still grounded)
To this day Jamie and I still go out and do things together but it is not
as fun because we are both legal now and we both have records at the station and
neither one of us plan to add to them.
