Dr. Wang's research focuses on security and privacy issues in the Internet of Things, mobile
devices, cloud computing, and cyberinfrastructure. He is a co-director of the PATRIOT
(Protection and Threat Research for the Internet of Things) Lab at DSU. Over the past 10
years, Dr. Wang was involved in 11 successful proposals (10 PIs and 1 Co-PI) totaling over
$2.3M in research. Dr. Wang received Merrill Hunter Award for Excellence in Research from
Dakota State University in 2015.

- Dr. Wang is part of a cyber agriculture project, “Designing a Secure Cyberinfrastructure for Precision Agriculture in South Dakota Based on LPWAN Technology”, led by Dr. Bhaskar Rimal.
- Dr. Wang received a new grant for IoT device identificatoin in 2021.
- Congratulations to Anthony Jairam for successfully defending their PhD
dissertations in March 2023!
- Dr. Wang received a NSF award ($377,487) to establish a REU Site in IoT Security at
Dakota State University in 2019.
